The Ultimate Marketing Toolkit: Ads That Attract Customers. Blogs That Create Buzz. Web Sites That Wow.

I have spent more than 10 years developing websites, optimizing them for Google, and helping my clients with online marketing. The Ultimate Marketing Toolkit seems to offer a good starting point for newbies to business promotion, but it's not very in-depth.
What's good about this book is that the author covers a variety of basics to marketing, rather than just web promotion. Peters breaks down the benefits of being able to sum up your business in a 30-second intro, how to create your logo, and how to craft an effective business card.
The book covers the basics behind blogging, drafting subscriber-based newsletters, sending press releases, and even creating brochures. The author breaks down ideal ways to structure your business website, and the best way to call your site visitor to action.
What is especially useful about this book is that Peters not only suggests how to create a marketing campaign from the ground up, but provides lists of useful website links to get you started.
What the book lacks is depth, however. Most of the ideas in this book are Marketing 101, and noticeably recycled from other works on business promotion.
Some of the suggestions that Peters makes about writing website content is noticeably off the mark. In Chapter 6 (The Website), Peters suggests having no more than 250 words on any page of your site. What she doesn't realize is that Google loves keyword-rich text, and more content means better results from search engines. There have also been psychological studies proving that long-copy on websites outperforms short-copy.
The book's greatest flaw is that it fails to cover Search Engine Optimization, commonly known as SEO. The term SEO makes only one appearance in the entire book, ironically in a chapter on pay-per-click advertising. For a book that touts itself as the "Ultimate Marketing Toolkit", it's bizarre that no light is shed on the #1 way to market a website. It's also blatantly false advertising, considering the back cover of the book states that she "clues you in to Search Engine Optimization." The Amazon product description also mentions SEO, when a two-sentence blurb is the only reference to it throughout the entire book.
If this were a book about creating a business identity, I would have rated it four stars. But considering this is a book on marketing in an internet age, it's incredibly lacking. If you're new to web marketing, avoid this book. Consider books such as "Web Marketing All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies", "CA$HVERTISING", and "Letting Go of the Words."

THE SECRET TO GETTING LISTED AT THE TOP OF SEARCH ENGINES Review

THE SECRET TO GETTING LISTED AT THE TOP OF SEARCH ENGINES
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As most contemporary authors, as well as actors, designers, and other ambitious and savvy professionals and amateurs in other fields have learned, one has to have an effective Internet presence, in most cases a website, to hope to compete in their field. Saieh provides a to-the-point, experienced handbook for how to get rated near the top of web search engines such as Google or Yahoo. This is all important considering that keyword searches with these search engines often turn up tens of thousands of responses.
Some of what is found in Saieh's handbook is in other books on the broad, multifaceted subject of websites. But Saieh goes beyond the cursory material found in most of these, so that her book is more useful. She not only says what is necessary to be listed at or near the top of search engine listings, but also explains in nontechnical language how the search engines work so one understands the reason for this.
Saieh assumes the reader is already convinced of the incomparable importance of having a website to establish one's identity in the field of one's choice, further one's career, sell one's product or services, or communicate one's message. Going beyond this, she also assumes nearly every reader will already have a website. So she does not spend time on trying to persuade one of the importance of a website, nor on how to get one up and running. She focuses sharply on getting one's website to stand out with the search engines once one understands the importance of a site and puts the effort into creating one.
Leading up to her main topic of search-engine listings, she does go over the elements of a good--i. e., effective, productive--website and research one should do to ensure such a site. In the style of the handbook the work is intended to be, each chapter ends with a bulleted listing of "Action Steps to Take" highlighting the to-do and how-to parts of the respective chapter.
Getting listed highly in search engine results is not the only aim in trying to make a website work: Keeping a high listing is an ongoing aim; and the author covers this as well.
Saieh is a website consultant with a specialization in search-engine optimization research and methodology with a decade of experience. Stellar Image is the name of her business. Many artists, writers, marketers, etc., will find her compact, informative manual invaluable in being effective in the highly-competitive and ever-growing world of the Internet.

Local Online Advertising For Dummies Review

Local Online Advertising For Dummies

local online advertising for dummies is a great read cover to cover...the fact i like the most about the book is that it touches upon every aspect of local business marketing from creating a website, to PPC, SEO and more...The book authored by Yodle, in my review fairs a "Good read"....for me the chapters that talk about "social networking" and "PR" were the most helpful, as those are relatively new marketing channels I am trying to better use to attain business goals... In my review, Yodle and this book are "highly recommended".
